Sindhri Mango Launched as Geographical Indication of Pakistan in Karachi

KARACHI: The Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), hosted the launch event in Karachi to mark the registration of Sindhri Mango as a Geographical Indication (GI) of Pakistan.

We had the pleasure of engaging with senior officials from IPO-Pakistan, including Ambassador (R) Farukh Amil - Chairperson IPO-Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Rafiq – Registrar Trademarks and Geographical Indications, Mr. Syed Nasrullah, Registrar Copyrights, Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz– Controller of Patents, and Patent Examiners Ms. Tafseer Fatima and Ms. Shams un Nisa. We also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Hattori Masaru – Consul General of Japan, along with other dignitaries and stakeholders from the IP community.

The event marked a significant step in protecting and celebrating Pakistan’s agricultural heritage through intellectual property.
