We are very proud to announce the merger of Saloosh, a boutique law firm, into Ali & Associates. The merger took effect on July 1, 2016, and will enable us to build on our specialization and offer diverse and comprehensive solutions to our clients.
Saloosh is a long established firm, founded by well renowned senior lawyer Mr. Shams-ul-Haq, a towering figure in the legal fraternity, who joins Ali & Associates as Senior Counsel. Mr. Haq's experience spans 56 years and 3 major cities - Karachi, Lahore and Chittagong (Bangladesh).
Mr. Haq was a pioneering officer of the Trade Marks Registry, Pakistan having joined the Chittagong Branch in 1960 alongwith founder of Ali & Associates, Mr. Talib Ali (late).
In 1972, both led the team that established the Lahore Trademark office and was elevated to the Deputy Registrar, Pakistan.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Haq spent nine years working with Remfry & Son and later on established the Pakistan Office of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), an international law firm headquartered in Jordan, and spent 10 years leading the Pakistan office.
MergerMr. Haq played an instrumental role in the development of IP laws in Pakistan and was engaged by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Intellectual Property Office of Pakistan (IPO) as a principal drafter of Trade Marks Laws, which were introduced following Pakistan's ascension to the TRIPS Agreement.
He is joined by Mr. Khalid Hassnain Abedi, Attorney at Law. Mr. Abedi's previous experience includes 21 years with UBL - one of Pakistan's largest banks. He previously served as the General Secretary of Pakistan Small Industries Association.
Mr. Abedi has also worked in the Law firm of Khursheed Khan & Associates.
